Clinical and Translational Investigation Program Launches

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Children's Hospital Boston has launched the Clinical and Translational Investigation Program (CTIP). This program seeks to enhance our clinical research by integrating the world class basic research being done in cancer and blood diseases with a new translational infrastructure in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. The CTIP will take advantage of the considerable clinical and translational trials efforts of CHB, Dana-Farber, and the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center. The CTIP will be co-directed by two newly recruited investigators, Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo, MD, and Wendy B. London, PhD, who will develop and implement clinical and translational research trials structure integrated across both of these outstanding institutions over the coming year.

"Children's and Dana-Farber are investing considerable resources into CTIP because we know that more closely integrating our basic, clinical and translational research will enable us to offer unique treatments for young patients stricken with cancer and blood diseases," says James Mandell, MD, chief executive officer, Children's Hospital Boston.

Edward J. Benz, Jr., MD, president, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, adds, "We are confident this investment will further our investigators' ability to conduct novel, innovative research that is focused on improving the outcomes of these devastating diseases over the next decade."
