London Joins Pediatric Oncology Faculty
Wendy B. London, PhD
Wendy B. London, PhD, joined Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Care (DF/CHCC) as director of Biostatistics and co-director of the Clinical and Translational Investigation Program in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School.
In her new role, London will build a biostatistical group within pediatric hematology/oncology (based at Children's Hospital Boston) that will be synergistic for the generation of new hypotheses by DF/CHCC researchers, and facilitate the testing of those hypotheses. She will also co-manage the newly formed Clinical and Translational Investigation Program (CTIP) with Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo, MD. The CTIP helps facilitate basic scientist and clinical researcher collaboration and the development of new treatments for pediatric cancers and blood disorders. In addition, London will develop a training program in clinical trials and statistical methods to help pediatric faculty members excel in their independent research programs.
London joins DF/CHCC from the University of Florida where the internationally recognized leader in biostatistics applied her knowledge to neuroblastoma research.
"Wendy's specialized expertise in pediatric cancer will help us recognize and address research hypotheses from a unique perspective and add to DF/CHCC's leadership in pediatric cancer research," says Stuart Orkin, MD, chair of Pediatric Oncology.
Adds David Williams, MD, Hematology/Oncology division chief at Children's, "The thoughtful approach she takes to clinical trial design is crucial for the successful planning, implementation, and interpretation of clinical trials in childhood cancer. Wendy's biostatistical approaches and clinical trials experience will enhance the clinical research within our program and serve as a model for the entire Harvard community."
