Rodriguez-Galindo joins pediatric oncology leadership
Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo, MD, is the new director of the Solid Tumor Program, program leader for Experimental Therapeutics, and medical director of the Pediatric Oncology Clinical Trials section.
Previously at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., Rodriguez-Galindo specializes in treating children with sarcomas and rare cancers, such as retinoblastoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma, which require treatment from a multidisciplinary team of experts. After just a few weeks in Boston, he says he "already sees how Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Care stands apart from other pediatric programs. This is the only center in America that provides children unsurpassed medical care from a network of nationally ranked pediatric subspecialists, as well as support from one of the world's best intellectual cancer communities."
A clinical investigator, Rodriguez-Galindo will also cultivate new research programs co-sponsored by Dana-Farber and Children's Hospital Boston. He will more closely integrate basic science and clinical researchers so they are better positioned to bring innovative new therapeutic approaches to the youngest cancer patients.
In addition, Rodriguez-Galindo will continue to participate in – and encourage our pediatric oncology team to contribute to – the global health and educational initiatives he originally became involved with at St. Jude. These include helping colleagues in Central America form a collaborative clinical research program to improve outcomes in their region of the world.
